When you depress the mouse over a tool bar button, a short description of the action of the button will appear in the left area of the Status Bar, which is situated below the main window. If after viewing the description you do not wish to execute the command, you should move the mouse pointer away from the button before releasing the mouse button.
You can also use Context Help, to investigate the different toolbar buttons.
To hide or display the Toolbar, use the Toolbar item of the View menu or use the short cut (ALT V, ALT T).
