Laboratory Measurements Dialog

Measurements of the densities and other properties of the fine aggregate and coarse aggregate can be entered on the Laboratory Measurements Dialog, which is brought up either by ticking the Use Laboratory Aggregate Measurements check box at the top of the Mix Design Form or with the Measurements item of the Laboratory menu.

Mouse: Click the button on the toolbar.

The following data may be entered for the fine and coarse aggregate:

• Sieve. The sieve sizes used for the grading of the fine and coarse aggregate should be entered.
• Percent passing. The percent passing should be entered for each sieve size.
• Angularity. The aggregate angularity (%) should be entered for each sieve size.
• Density. The measured density should be entered for each sieve size.
• Absorption(at set). The measured absorption (at set) should be entered for each sieve size.
• Absorption(‘as is’). The measured absorption ('as is') should be entered for each sieve size.
• Class. The user can select the fine and coarse aggregate class.

The Dialog contains the following buttons:

• Calc and Check Button for checking the validity of the current dialog data.
• OK Button for exiting the dialog with the state of the Use Measurements in Mix Design Check Box controlling whether the dialog data is or is not to be used in the current mix design form.
• Cancel Button for returning to the current mix design form without changing its state.

If the coarse aggregate is lightweight, its strength characteristics must be specified.

The user can either specify a concrete critical strength, or a modulus of deformation, or a concrete strength reduction factor and a residual absolute volume/cement ratio.

In addition the fine aggregate grading is calculated from the percents passing the fine aggregate sieve sizes and is displayed, and the maximum size of coarse aggregate should be entered.

The measurements will only be used in the current mix design and loaded into the active mix design form, if the Use Measurements in Mix Design Check Box is ticked.
