Absolute Density

The absolute density of a material is the weight of a given quantity of the material divided by the sum of the volumes of the particles contained in the same quantity.

The DOE Method, used by Firstmix, assumes that the volume of fully compacted freshly mixed concrete equals the sum of absolute volumes of its constituent materials. The method therefore requires that absolute densities are used to specify the densities of materials, rather than bulk or effective densities.
