Cement Properties Dialog

The Cement Properties Dialog is brought up with the Load Cement Button on a Mix Design Form or the Cement item of the Laboratory menu.

Shortcut:

Mouse: Click the button on the toolbar.

The Cement Properties Dialog allows you to create a new cement type or to load different cement types into the Mix Design Form.

The Dialog contains the following buttons:

• Calc and Check for checking the validity of the current dialog data.
• Load for loading the cement file of an existing cement type.
• Save As for saving a new cement type as a cement file.
• Accept for loading a cement type into the current mix design form.
• Cancel for returning to the mix design form.

And the following edit boxes:

• Cement Title for entering a brief title to identify the cement type.
• Cement Density for entering the cement density.
• Cement Description for entering a description of the cement type.
• Test Ages, for which strengths are specified for concrete made with the cement.
• Uncrushed Coarse Aggregate Strength for entering the concrete strengths attained by mixes made with uncrushed aggregate.
• Crushed Coarse Aggregate Strength for entering the concrete strengths attained by mixes made with crushed aggregate.
• Free water/cement ratio of tested concrete for entering the free water/cement ratio used in test mixes.

If information is only available for one of the coarse aggregate types, the cement can still be used but you should be careful not to use the other aggregate type in a concrete mix design.

Firstmix is issued with three cement files, which contain typical cement properties for Ordinary Portland cement (OPC), Sulphate-resisting Portland cement (SRPC) and Rapid hardening Portland cement (RHPC). These files can be loaded into the Cement Properties Dialog with the Load button.
